Dearest Readers, Writers and Artists,
The launch of the new O&C is a story of a long and arduous labor. Wednesday morning the birthing pains began with a sharp contraction that started in the core of the earth and pierced through the heart, seizing the brain with a fistful of pain. Months of preparation, organization, anticipation, and formulation fell apart when we awoke to discover that most terrible of all terrible things: a hemorrhaging of the hard drive. Lists and emails and plots and plans and proofs all poured out and splashed upon the tiles – a technological catastrophe of epic proportions. No amount of lamaz breathing classes could have prepared us for this.
Friday was launch day. Friday loomed.
Thursday, everything was scattered and sleepless. There was still no site, still nothing to hold on to. Minds in a fog, we felt a gut-wrenching despair at the prospect of possibly losing everything that we’ve worked so hard on over the past years. The labor of love can be so unjust, unfair, graceless, and agonizing.
Friday, Saturday, Sunday, we gave up. Drowned our sorrows in tequila and sangrias, painted our nails black, left our cars running on the street as we ran on foot to escape the pain.
Monday…reborn.
In a state of post-birthing, fatigued bliss, we are happy to announce the launch of the redesign of Oysters & Chocolate. As we lay here, eyes droopy, brains stalling, we embrace the new O&C with all of the love in the world, and we hope you will love it as well.
The redesign of the site was inspired by the desire to take O&C from a monthly publication and transform it into a dynamic, more interactive erotic website. Some of the changes you’ll see include daily content updates – with articles, short stories, and poetry added every day, rather than on the first of every month. The site is now more interactive in that you can rate and comment on the content, as well as bookmark your favorites using tools like Delicious and Digg. Tag clouds will make finding what you’re looking for easier and more fun.
The look of the site is changed as well. The traditional O&C color-palette, as well as the textile feel, is updated with a more engaging layout, sharper text and fun graphics. The new look is nothing less than beautiful and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
New O&C sections include bimonthly articles for couples, a monthly readers’ response question in which we encourage you to share your sexual experiences or opinions, a monthly article on what’s new in the world of web-erotica, a bimonthly check-in with Dr. Dick and more. There will also be a new, stream-lined submissions process for writers.
As with anything that’s new, especially now that we’ve experienced numerous technological setbacks, we anticipate a few bugs and hairballs in the beginning. If you come across anything that doesn’t work as it should, or have any problems or questions, we encourage you to let us know. After all, these redesign was done with you in mind – we want you to love it!
Oysters & Chocolate was first created to deliver quality women’s erotica in a fun and classy way. With the redesign, we still hold to our original purpose, and hope that you find the site beautiful, smart, interesting and dynamic. As we’ve always said, O&C comes from that spark in every woman where the mind, body, and imagination come together to make for great sex. We hope that the new O&C is an embodiment of this ideal: mind, body and imagination, and above all, great sex!
Onwards and upwards,
Jordan & Samantha
