This is the second book in Allyson James’ Mortal’s series featuring sexy demigods and shapeshifters.
In Mortal Seductions Valenarian an ex-vengeance demon, has taken an oath of celibacy to serve as a priestess for the goddess Aphrodite. How ironic that she helps bring together couples in love while having no love of her own.
However sexy shapeshifter Dimitri is still in love with Val…even after thousands of years of being without her. He’s not the only one with a thing for Val either. When Val gets a new project she meets sexy Cajun Leon who falls under her spell as well. And Dimitri and Val both fall for him.
Val soon finds herself immersed in a sexy love triangle that unfortunately brings out the demon inside of her. She expects Aphrodite to kill her for breaking her vow of celibacy but instead Aphrodite gives Val the chance to make amends and get her demon under control…the catch? She only has two weeks to do it. And she needs both Dimitri and Leon to help…if they refuse or fail they’ll all die.
I’m not much for M/M scenes in my erotica but with the touch of paranormal elements and the well written and super steamy sex scenes I didn’t mind this so much. I would have loved to see more emotion though. This book weighed heavily on the sex…and lots of sex there was. The story line and plot moved along but the characters seemed to lack the emotion they really needed to push this story over the edge and make it fantastic. With all the feelings…thousands of years of feelings…that Dimitri has had pent up for Val then to have Leon come in and interfere even if he developed feelings for Leon as well…there just should have been more emotion. I mean come on lives are on the line here. I wanted more about “learning true passion” and I wanted to see more fulfillment come out of the cravings of a millennia.
Sure this was a sizzling hot read if you’re just in it for the sex then you’ll enjoy it but if you are craving more emotion this book might leave you feeling unfulfilled.
