Love on the Side of the NJ Turnpike is an erotic story many people might relate to in such tough economic times: a young couple experiences financial difficulties due to one of them, Heath, losing their job. This leaves Regina as the sole breadwinner of the pair. The situation has put a strain on the relationship, especially on their sex life. Heath is depressed and never wants to have sex anymore; Regina thinks she can handle the financial responsibilities and just wants Heath to live again. She is determined to pull him out of his depression and re-energize their sex life at the same time by going on a road trip.
The results are a crazy little road trip that feels, at times, like a bad tumble into a manic episode. One minute she’s angry, then she’s crying, and then she’s masturbating in the back of their car.
It is strange at times, however, I do understand the way in which relationships can feel like a roller coaster; this lends credibility to the story.
These characters are relatable, though this doesn’t always equal likeability. Heath is always in a bad mood and Regina cares more about sex than Heath. At times, the story comes off as being all about the sex and not really the deep-rooted issues in the relationship. During Regina’s exhibitionist masturbation scene in the back of the car, Heath obliviously drives down the highway never even noticing what she’s doing right behind him. I must say that scene was a little disturbing. I would not want a trucker driving down the highway focused on some chick in the backseat of a car with his dick in his hand, not when he needs to control that big ass truck on the road. Can you say accident waiting to happen?
The story is a moody, yet erotic road trip that hopefully puts their relationship back on track.
