According to the Kinsey Scale (1948), people exist on a spectrum of sexuality from heterosexual, gay, bisexual, asexual, and everything in between. I’m curious if your crush is 100% straight. The best way to find out if you have a chance with this guy is to be straightforward and honest about your interest in him. But before you take that chance, and say something that can’t be unsaid, you might want to find out a little more about his sexual preferences. Have you asked him if he’s ever experienced anything sexual with a man, or if he’s curious to try? If he offers an answer that indicates he has some interest or curiosity about men, you may be given the green light to pursue him. Just be honest about what you want! “I’d like to kiss you” or “I think your sexy” should do the trick.

However, if he tells you he is definitely straight, then it’s your responsibility to respect his boundaries. After all, he’s your friend. To be a friend means to be accepting and compassionate, not devious and manipulative. If you try to seduce him, and he doesn’t have any interest in sex with men, you are putting your friendship at risk. Put yourself in his shoes, if you are 100% gay, would you want a straight girlfriend to attempt to seduce you? Awkward, right? If this is the case with him, look, but don’t touch, and find yourself a sexy gay or bisexual guy to play with.
