the city never sleeps;
neon with twenty-four hour employment.
saddling up, heading out
showered, cologne, perfume
evening attire.
hit the town, all the bars,
all the clubs
martini, scotch, straight and hard.
single, taken, mistress, wife,
it doesn't matter at this time of night.
a smile, a wink, an encouraging glance
an invitation, a hotel, a one night stand.
condoms, regrets, she never knew his name
sheets dirty, stained with sweat.
a room, random, a million like one,
sees more action than love.
